The southbound lanes of Highway 99 that were closed after an over-height truck slammed into the Ladner Trunk Road overpass have been reopened.
Eastbound traffic has also opened up on Highway 10, which was closed in both directions for hours Tuesday afternoon while authorities waited for an engineer to assess the overpass’s integrity.
The truck, owned by Bestlink Transport in Surrey, was hauling a large grain bin that was secured at Delta Port.
Company owner Henry Schneider told CTV News the driver has 20 years’ experience.
Witnesses at the scene said the accident knocked concrete debris off the overpass The accident also put a dent in the truck’s grain bin, but the driver was uninjured.
The situation caused commuter chaos, forcing vehicles onto slow-moving detours during rush hour before officials could finally start reopening the affected roads.
